This weeks theme for my #challengeyourcamera post is another guest theme of SPORT and supplied by Sheree of View From The Back. Sheree is one of my long time followers, and has a real enthusiasm for challenges, especially ones involving photography. When she suggested this theme I was a bit concerned that people wouldn’t be able to go outdoors or find anything sporting to photograph, but here are Sheree’s words to help; “Sport doesn’t have to be pro. It can be grandchildren having a kickabout in the garden, dogs having fun, a sports stadium or museum, spectators, someone sporting something……….”
For my own offering I’ve had to scour my archives because there just isn’t anything sporting going on anywhere in my village at present, it’s a bit ghostly on my morning walks and one of these days I expect to see tumbleweed blowing down the street! My choices are a mixture of images, one is of a newspaper cutting, one is a screenshot of a special moment in the event on live tv, a couple are of myself still engaged in my sport when I was 60, and one of my daughter a couple of years back. I hope you can all find something to give it a go.

News
This has been a record week for posters to my weekly challenge, thank you so much everyone, the Roll of Honour list is expanding rapidly and I hope you all see this as a list of photographers we can all learn something from. As a community we should all be supporting each other by “following” which it makes commenting on each other’s blogs so much easier without filling in an email form each time. I also hope you’ve noticed that occasionally I select a follower to suggest a “guest challenge”, today it’s Sheree from View From The Back, and next week there’s another from Philosophy Through Photography. Both are great photographers who post and comment regularly so I encourage you to take a look at their blogs and follow from their links below.

The Rules
Each week I am selecting a single theme to point my camera at or display a few photos from my collection as a way to brighten up the week as we enter a new year which we all hope will be brighter than the last. If you would like to join me in #challengeyourcamera then here’s what to do:
1. Follow me to discover the weekly theme I have chosen.
2. Select a few photos related to the week’s theme
3. Post your own photos that week, any day you like.
4. Include a caption with each photo so we know what/where it is
5. Include a link to my blog in your post so that I am notified and can follow you back
6. Add a pingback/link to YOUR post in the comment section of MY post on that weeks theme.
7. Include the tag #challengeyourcamera
1. I will follow you back
2. I will encourage other posters to follow you
3. I will list each blogger in my weekly post in arrears

I was absolutely sure I would have to opt out of this challenge as I am about the most non-sporty person you could imagine. Then I started trolling through my photos and, guess what, I found quite a few that would fit the bill, so here they are https://travels-with-my-camera.blog/2021/02/24/challenge-your-camera-8-sport/
Your images amaze me. You must be incredibly fit to still carry out such dangerous pursuits at 60. But it’s lovely to see that you still do these things and still have the get-up-and-go to get up and do them! Good luck to you.

Thank you 🙏🙏. My ice climbing on waterfalls which were frozen were quite scary at times. I sometimes watched people climbing waterfalls that were 200m high, at 60+ I never had the strength for that. But I knew what I was doing and why, because sometimes in the big Himalaya peaks you would come to a part which was 10-20 metres of ice, and unless you knew how to handle it you just had to turn back!

Thank you for the detailed explanation.
For me it is quite frightening

Great idea for a theme – something a bit out of the ordinary 🙂 I’m quite a big sports fan, so I had to share with you the biggest and best sports experience I’ve had to date, the London Olympics in 2012 https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/when-the-olympics-came-to-london-2012/

Hi – feel like I’ve just had a sports workout just getting the post together. That WAS a Challenge. Enjoyed it though. That’s the main thing.
You’ll find my offering on https://wordpress.com/post/marilynunmasked.blog/10539.
Have a good week. Look forward to next Monday.
Cheers, M

Mountain climbing or going over a crevice on a ladder you would not get me to do! I had a lot more Sport photos than I thought I had, but focused on just one! My hubby is a curler, so had those photos and a biker, so had those, but knowing you, I will need them for future posts, so I will hoard for now! Will post my Sport tomorrow, as I need something for that day!

Oh no! It just takes us a while to find our photos! (and remember we have them) Now, if you were to post in advance what the Themes were, like for a month, we could plan! Some Challenges do this! Just a thought!

Nope, no planning allowed because I always intended to ask guests for a theme based on their engagement. You’re winning that hands down. Also, I get fresh ideas all the time.

Mines a bit of a cheat as I took photos of newspaper cuttings and a tv screen shot, in addition to ones of myself and daughter I already had.

Thank you for the mention. This week’s challenge is particularly hard for me, I don’t think I have anything sportsy! But I will try nonetheless. 🙂

Thank you I appreciate your trying. It was my fear when the idea was given to me by Sheree, but she deserved to choose a topic. 👏👏🤞
