Just like trekking in Nepal, trekking in the French Alps gets you off the beaten track, though in many cases there is no track at all! This is where trekking crosses the line with mountaineering and is often the only means to even get to your mountain. My chosen photo this week is of the descent from the Aiguille du Midi at Chamonix down into the Valle Blanche for either summiting Mont Blanc or crossing over into Italy. On this occasion we were crossing to Italy for a cup of hot chocolate!

Stunning! I’m sure the hot chocolate was very welcome after the trek.

I thought that would tickle a few folks, but it’s true, though we took the horizontal travelling cable car to come back 😂😂
