Left wing ideologues and virtue signalling!
A well reasoned post from Jonathan Hockey that focuses on left wing ideology with their supposed “greater morality” which exposes the disease of virtue signalling, so prevalent with the celebs and extreme feminists.
Well I managed to ignore the political scene in the UK and in Europe and the US for a couple of months here in Colombia, but now I find myself catching up on everything. And what I find is that things have only carried on further down the line they were going. More polarisation, more doubling down by the left wing ideologues. I do see some minor conceding of ground by the more rational members on the right and left wings. But it remains the case that the left wing delusion that we are all the same and that as a result any inequality is due to oppression, etc, remains the dominant ideological force.
It’s easy to see the attraction of this ideology. It is very simplistic, very easy to learn and understand, and it gives one a great initial feeling of moral superiority and of being morally good in…

You accused me a day or two ago of opinions without facts. So what is the difference in this piece that I am missing?

I asked you for some facts, there is a difference from “accusation”. But this is not a fact based dialogue, it is a reference to a position that many celebs or feminists take in protests where they claim the moral high ground in minor cases but are silent in cases of massive significance. Examples are students who protest about British slavery but ignore slavery perpetrated by African kings, Chinese emperors or Moslem/Arab pirates. Then there are the women who protest about Trumps possible misogyny but who ignore the subjugation of women around the globe. Some images in the press today showed a wealthy western celeb taking a selfie with an iPhone alongside a couple of obviously very poor African girls. Virtue signalling all of it, and in every case I have read it’s been from left leaning groups or ideologues. This needs constant exposing as opposed to ignoring.

Hooray! I’m sorry if you were originally offended by it, I take your point that maybe my introduction comment wasn’t enough. I’ll learn from it!

I caught a little bit of television at the gym the other night. In 30 minutes, there were about five scenes involving a man being physically pummeled by a woman: kicked in the groin, plates smashed over his head, etc.
In short, you can see the “payback” for this cultural guilt on television. There is an audience seeking violence and a seller (the media) willing to give it to them.
