The House of Lords voting for an amendment to the Brexit Bill to “protect” EU citizens living in the UK BEFORE British citizens living in European countries are protected is either an act of utter naivety or one that is politically and personally motivated.
Even before the initial debates in the Commons the PM tried to agree a reciprocal policy with the EU via Angela Merkel to protect both groups of citizens so they were not used as pawns in the wider negotiations: her request was refused!
So tell me, how can the HoL pretend to be acting in the interests of the UK and its citizens, or acting as guardians of our constitution with this amendment? Haine, Heseltine, and all of the unelected LibDem Lords have shown a level of self interest based on their EU pensions that shows that THEY as individuals as well as the institution itself is not fit for purpose. They have certainly failed in one of their three parliamentary obligations “To provide a body of independent expertise”.
You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!

Did the amendment pass, or is it still pending?

Ron, the amendment “passed” the House of Lords which still needs approval by our Government. It then gets given back to the HoL like a game of ping pong, I think it can go on like this 3 times. In the end the Government can go ahead as they wish anyway, and the HoL know this and are doing it to delay as much as they can. They are mischief makers and gain nothing.

Ah, got it. We are getting similar delays from the far-left government factions in the US with the immigration ban. Delay as long as possible…but it will most likely get passed if it goes to the Supreme Court.

I’m looking forward to our government response tomorrow morning because they knew what would happen and will have a strategy prepared.
